THE SHOP
Everything is done with scissors, lock by lock, no clippers. The length is worked rather than shaved off: the fade stays soft and grows out without a line. It takes longer, and the price is decided by looking at you, by the length there is to work.

A traditional shave: lather, then the blade, first with the grain, then against it where needed. Without the ceremony it is usually sold with; just the time it takes.

Book if it suits you. Otherwise, come in. While you wait, there is a comfortable sofa, a coffee or a cold drink, and newspapers to leaf through. Take a seat: that is what it is there for.
The Court-Chemin stairs come down to the door. On old maps they are the Kurzweg: in this quarter, streets have two names and nobody gives it a thought.

The room has a shop window and a glass door onto the street. Two barber chairs, one brown, one green, each facing its own mirror, one on each side of the room; at the back, against a green wall, a shampoo basin. By the window, a dark green Chesterfield sofa and matching armchair, two small round tables, a coffee machine and, on the wall, a large black-and-white picture.
